2024 Reflection

Pont Neuf Bridge, Toulouse, France in May 2024

Well here we are at the end of another year. Naturally, when things wind down and come to an end, we often look back and reflect to evaluate the good, the bad, and what we have learned from our experiences over the last 12 months. Often from that point, we decide what we want to remain the same and what we can try to do differently moving forward into the start of a new year.

I have been thinking about all that I have done this past year, and there has been a lot. I have had a lot of opportunities and experiences to experiment creatively, not just in my art practice, but also in my everyday life, such as cooking and baking, and problem solving at work on new challenges and unique projects.

I have had some great experiences this year to continue to travel and experience new adventures in places that are both new and familiar to me. I did an artist residency this summer in France and gathered a great body of material for my art practice that I continue to work with today. I also went to Switzerland to revisit the beautiful city of Basel. I was able to meet up with old friends I haven’t seen in many years and make new friends along the way too.

In my job at the art museum, I was made a permanent full time employee this year and I have kept very busy there working on numerous projects simultaneously and although each project comes with a new set of challenges and requires that I put in many hours of hard work, I love every minute of it.

In the year ahead I hope to continue making lots of art, working hard at the museum, spending more time with friends and loved ones and hopefully do some more traveling too. In all aspects of my life, I want to be open to trying new things when opportunities come my way and see where they may take me. I know there are a few of these opportunities on the horizon and I look forward to them in the New Year.

For this blog I have chosen to reflect on the year and to share a collection of some of my favourite images that I have created in 2024. Some of these images were taken in 2023 but were edited this year. No surprise that a good portion of these images are in black and white as I do love black and white photography especially when it is done well.

I wish all of the readers of this blog a happy holiday and all the best to you in the New Year. Happy 2025 and may the new year bring you peace, joy and love.

Cheers!
